What makes a band “farm grade”
- UV stability – ordinary bands go brittle within days in direct sun. Field bands need a UV-resistant compound or a wider cross-section that tolerates surface ageing.
- Moisture tolerance – wet produce and irrigation mist accelerate degradation; natural latex handles repeated wetting if it can dry out.
- Food contact – bands touching edible produce should come from food-contact compliant production; latex-free options are available for sensitive markets.
- Grip without damage – enough elasticity to hold a bouncing bunch, soft enough not to bruise stems.
Colour coding in the field
Many growers use band colour to mark harvest date, variety or bed number. Coloured bands cost little more than natural and remove paperwork from the field – tell us your coding scheme and we match it.
